Dental hygienist, educator, speaker, author, consultant, seminar and study club leader

Kathy has been a dental hygienist, educator, speaker, author, consultant, seminar and study club leader for over 35 years.  She speaks frequently about the correct classification, documentation, treatment planning, procedure code selection and long-term case management for patients with periodontal disease.

Her national engagements include presentations to the ADA/CODHA Annual Meeting in Denver, CO (2016), ADHA Center for Lifelong Learning and RDH Under One Roof. She has spoken before numerous Dental Hygienists’ Assns., U. of Washington and Oregon Health Sciences University CDE programs, Association for Dental Hygiene Practitioners in Washington State as well as dental study clubs, dental hygiene components and dental management study groups.  Through her company, Professional Dental Seminars, Inc., she provides customized in-office, interactive workshops to address dental practices’ specific concerns related to treatment planning and procedure code selection and long-term management of periodontal patients.

Kathy is a contributing author for the Insurance Solutions Newsletter, a national publication for Dr. Charles Blair and Associates, where she addresses issues related to dental hygiene procedures and proper billing practices as well as articles on similar topics published in RDH Magazine.

She recently joined the faculty in the Dental Hygiene Program at Concorde Career College in Aurora, Colorado.  During her long career in education in Washington state she taught the first year Periodontics curriculum and first year clinic in the Dental Hygiene Program at Pierce College in Tacoma, WA as well as the Teaching Practicum Series for the Eastern Washington University’s Degree Completion program (at Pierce College) for licensed dental hygienists seeking their Bachelor’s Degree.

Currently Kathy serves on the Dental Hygienists’ Coding Focus Group (with over 75 members across the country) reviewing and developing procedure codes relevant to dental hygiene practice to be presented to the Code Maintenance Committee of the American Dental Association.  In addition, she is Chair of the Council on Educational Services for the Colorado Dental Hygienists’ Association which develops regional continuing education programs as well as reviews speakers/programs seeking recognition by CODHA.

Kathy and her husband moved to Colorado 3 years ago after spending 2 years in Southern California where she served on The California Dental Hygienists’ Association’s Task Force investigating and developing procedure codes and definitions which better reflect established dental hygiene treatment protocols.
